Nearly 60 percent of consumers are planning to shop online this holiday season.
While futurists might have missed the mark on flying cars, it’s clear that the shift toward digital shopping is real and here to stay. According to a recent National Retail Federation survey of 7,350 consumers, 59 percent are planning to do their holiday shopping online this year – up from 57 percent from 2016. Moreover, a separate survey from NPD indicates that those consumers who plan to shop online exclusively will spend 70 percent more than those who shop offline.
For brands and businesses inside and outside the retail sector, this shift should sound the “get serious” alarm. Taking advantage of consumers’ digital preference is now a must. Active engagement of consumers across the digital spectrum – from shopping to social to customer service and beyond – is a pillar of modern commerce.
At Stats Digital, we’re excited by the transformational nature of today’s consumer environment and look forward to helping your business succeed.
